Plastic waste from the rivers in India
8 to 12 million tons of plastic end up in the oceans every year, mostly via rivers. The approach of the organization "Plastic Fischer" is to collect plastic waste in the rivers. This approach is up to 300 times cheaper than "plastic fishing" from the sea. And it saves a lot of carbon because ships and imports from abroad are avoided.

We think that's great and have donated 10% of the purchase price to Plastic Fischer for every lifebuoy sold.
Each lifebuoy has ensured that "2 kilograms" of various plastics are removed from polluted rivers. This prevented them from drifting into the ocean in the first place and causing major damage there.

We would like to thank "Plastic Fischer" for the great collaboration.

Audited effects

The majority of the plastics collected are classified as non-recyclable. These are, for example, plastic bags and sacks that consist of several layers of plastic. It remains untreated and ends up in the environment because you cannot recycle this resource. It is worthless. This rejected plastic is collected and processed in thermal recycling plants.

In other words, it is incinerated with energy recovery.
This is in line with international best practices and is better than dumping it in unmanaged landfills. The entire process - collection, sorting and incineration of the waste - is audited by Empower.
